Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you’ve at least heard about urban axe throwing …..and that it’s becoming kind-of-a-big-deal. But what exactly
is axe throwing?
We at Iron Axe Society are here to get you familiar!
Is axe throwing a great excuse to have a couple of drinks, get your adrenaline pumping, and chuck a sharp object at a block of wood? Axe-solutely!
Axe throwing is also a sport where a competitor throws a hatchet or tomahawk-sized axe at a target, with a bullseye and two small circles called “killshots”.
The axes that connect within the target gain points, and the competitor with the most points wins. It’s like darts but less complex, and WAY more exciting!
A little backstory...
The history of axe throwing traces back many, many moons. Yet, urban axe throwing as we know it today, emerged on the scene less than 20 years ago.
Many axe throwers link its modern-day origins to a group of young lads in the backyard of a Canadian home.
It was at that point where they took a trusty axe, created a rustic target, and developed a simple point system.
This event of creative instinct soon turned into what we know today
as the recreational sport of urban axe throwing.
